That's a good word to describe me about this blog of late. My bad.
It took me a couple of days to get over Shelby getting beat in the state finals on Saturday. Great game. Golden Lions came up three short in a game that, unbelievably, Shelby couldn't hit the broad side of the barn from the field or the free-throw line. Shelby picked the worst possible time to go cold as a team. Despite the loss, it was an outstanding season for the Golden Lions. Congratulations!
Wish I had a video link to a dunk Shelby had in the first quarter. Holy Cow. Danny Sanders threw a ball off the backboard for Ed Gullatte. Gullatte caught it and slammed it in true NBA All-Star-like fashion. It was unbelievable.
Congrats also to Shelby Coach Ken Napier. After 33 years on the bench, Coach is retiring. Best of luck in the future, Ken. You are a class act.
Anyone watching the World Baseball Classic? My 10-year-old and I are. There have been some good games. Hope the USA can muster enough intensity to pull it out. The Latin teams seem to be taking the whole thing a lot more seriously.
Interesting stuff out of the NFL. Duante Culpepper (one of the league's best QBs in 2004) was traded for a second-round pick? Go figure. Edgerin James signed with the Arizona Cardinals. What? Dallas cut Keyshawn Johnson the same day Philadelphia turned Terrell Owens loose. A coincidence? I was a Dallas fan until the Panthers came to town, but I've got to question the Cowboys' interest in TO. Of course anyone signing Owens has got to be willing to take on some serious issues.
Spring sports are in full swing in the county. Seems like the county baseball squads are trading a lot of paint early. Should be fun to watch as the days get longer. Keep an eye on Shelby's girls' soccer team, though. Through seven games the ladies have not been scored on in going 7-0.
March Madness is upon us. What's up with the brackets this year? Tennessee is a 2 seed and Boston College a 4? Someone on the selection committee was smoking something. And how about the women's side? North Carolina gets champs from the Big East, SEC and PAC-10 all in their bracket? Makes no sense at all.
David Ray (my 10-year-old) has Bucknell over Arkansas as his upset special in the first round. As he and the Hawk like to say, "You can put it on the boooooaaaarrrddd."
Good luck as you fill out your brackets, but you can't go wrong with Duke and UConn. I think both of those heavyweights will still be standing on the first Monday night in April. We'll see.
See ya.

Hey David!! Finally reading your blog. Ya need to post more, man! But I know how busy you are. Going to feel funny this year, not getting to work with you on football. But, hey, crap changes, right? Have a great summer. And my best to the family. Take care, brother!
