Resumes a Great Job Seekers Tool
We continue our focus on the local job market and how you can be better positioned for that new job on the horizon. Today we look at the importance of a good resume.
According to Lawrence Roseboro, Manager of the Employment Security Commission, there are several mainstay tools involved in landing that new and better job among them a well organized resume.
Even if you are interested in a job driving a fork lift, a resume can still be your ticket to that next position. But there are several things to remember when getting your work history together.
The information should be updated
The typing must be neat and mistake free,
Be sure to include education and important workshops
Don’t leave big gaps in history include volunteering or intern periods.
But you don’t have to do this on your own, the Employment Security Commission and the Community College can provide help.
“We do have booklets that can help you with your resume and we also have a workshop and staff that can give your guidance,” said Roseboro.
Roseboro says that even with a great resume the opportunities may not fall at your feet but with the opening of several new companies and more business interest in our area means that things are getting better.
“Just realize that this is a tough economy, but things are getting a bit better so now is not the time to give up.”
