Traffic congestion along some Shelby roads?
Detouring and lots of congestion along some Shelby roads Tuesday backing-up side streets all over the area.
It wasn’t too long ago, TV33 found out the City of Shelby was planning near future improvements to help relieve sewer line issues in the area—and that’s exactly what’s causing all the commotion.
The city recently announced a sanitary sewer replacement project along portions of North Washington and Hudson streets starting Tuesday. It’s said North Washington Street will be closed intermittently during the day from Grover Street to East Avenue, and Hudson Street will be closed from North Lafayette Street to Schenck Street.
These roads will be accessible for local traffic only. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route along Dekalb or North Lafayette streets.
Representatives say, workers will be out there from 8-6 p.m. everyday for at least 4-5 weeks.
The city says they are not exactly sure how far down Hudson the construction will run, but TV33 will keep you posted with traffic issues as the project progresses.
If you have any questions regarding this project, you could call the City Utilities Department at 704-484-6840.
